President's Message

Thanks to all board members, volunteers and membership!

As I complete my first year as acting president, I have to thank all the board members, volunteers and membership for all the support they provided me in 2017. We had some successes which is attributed to dedication and passion from our volunteers. We also had some challenges, none that couldn’t be overcome.

Diversity in Events – new venues, new formats, new events!

Volunteers put in variety of events across Metro St. Louis region. We started new locations on Illinois side. You can now
network after hours in Edwardsville. Issues Resolution workshops are a great hit. Bring an issue, problem or a challenge from
your workplace to this forum and discuss with others seeking suggestions on how you can resolve that situation.

After many years of trying, our volunteers put a successful Golf event in September. That was a great opportunity to learn
golfing skills and showcase your networking skills. The team and participants were also able to donate about $1500 to St.
Jude Children’s Research hospital. We are on track for our next Golf event in September 2018.

Breakfast events at Maritz are gaining momentum. Chesterfield and Des Peres are other locations widely attended. O'Fallon,
IL is a new location too for breakfasts. Every month, these breakfasts cater to broader membership that are not able to
attend dinner events.

PMIMSL accepted to host PMI Leadership Institute Region 6 Meeting

PMI Metro St. Louis chapter is part of PMI Region 6 that has 8 states and 26 chapters. Every year, leaders from these chapters meet to discuss common challenges, share best practices and celebrate the PMI volunteerism with each other. Our
chapter demonstrated the leadership in the submitting an application to host this annual meeting here in St. Louis under the new process in 2018.

This meeting is not open to general membership and is a leadership meeting with chapter board members from 8 states. The only way membership can participate is through volunteering. PMIMSL board of directors is excited to host other
chapter leaders and are looking forward to working with our volunteers to put up a memorable experience for regional leaders.

As President-Elect, I look forward to becoming the Metropolitan St. Louis PMI Chapter’s President (2019-2020). In 2018, I will shadow our current President to ensure that my transition as your President will be seamless. I joined the Metropolitan St. Louis PMI Chapter in 2007 and have served on the board for the last 5 years. I have held many volunteer positions, and this chapter has provided me with opportunities to develop professionally, expand my network, and become a better leader. The Metropolitan St. Louis PMI Chapter is a great organization to become involved in. The Project Management Institute is a global organization, and we bring value to our community. I look forward to being your President in 2019-2020 and welcome any questions or suggestions you may have.
